We took the BAARK puppies to the Fullerton Fire Station 1 to experience the fire trucks with lights and sirens. While we were there the station received 2 calls. So we got to see the engines actually leave on a real call.
For this monthly meeting Gail brought crutches, a wheel chair, and a walker for the puppies to get familiar with.
As part of Fun Day activities, Guide Dogs for the Blind has a day where raisers are invited to follow a trainer. Here are some pictures – I wish I remembered the names of the dogs.
Every year Guide Dogs for the Blind puts on a Fun Day. This year it was on July 13 in San Rafael (they also do one at the Oregon campus). Puppies and their raisers come from all around to socialize, meet puppy siblings, drop off returning puppies and pick up new puppies. This year had an added bonus with the opening of the new construction of the dormitory area of the campus. There were also educational events: learning about different eye diseases that causes blindness, learning about the new training techniques like R+, and learning about the whole breeding process. Very interesting!!
