BAARK participated in the OCTA Service Dog Training Day. OCTA allows all service dogs to ride the bus to and from the ARTIC/Downtown Disney. It was a warm day so we met early and rode the bus, had breakfast and wandered around Downtown Disney allowing the puppies to experience going in and out of stores, ride the tram, etc. Always a fun event.
I was very excited about the success of the Guide Dogs for the Blind Puppies in Training and Working Guide Dogs the Annual Hollywood Bowl outing. It was so good to meet new raisers and handlers at the picnic and inside of the venue. There were 30 dogs and 92 humans in attendance. The seating, as always, was great. Thank you all for making this years event a success.
BAARK GDB Puppy Raisers enjoyed an evening of bowling. Actually was very fun and the puppies didn’t care one bit. They all just hung out guarding the bowling ball racks. We were missing Aiden this time. Rhubarb had an excused absence as she is in breeder evaluation (fingers crossed).
Yes, the day was hot but not unbearable and the puppies could still walk on the sidewalks. Very nice turnout – Many clubs were represented. Of course, some of us made the annual lunch stop at Philippe’s. YUM. Walked down Olvera Street, puppies practiced polite walking past each other, and the group photo. Missing were Mandy and Elbert!!
Twice a year, OCTA hosts a training day for service dogs where they allow us all to practice with our dogs so they learn to be comfortable riding buses. The puppies learn about the steps, the ramp and the wheelchair lift. The OCTA bus drops us off at Downtown Disney where we are able to walk through crowds, go in and out of stores and stop for a bite to eat. Thank you to all of the people who were at Downtown Disney as they had to use their best self-restraint not to pet the puppies. It is important that they are able to walk through crowds and past other dogs and remain focused. Successful day for all!

I want to make this as easy as possible to sign up and pay. Please please please, call me if you have any questions. Mary Ann Epstein | 909-539-7196 | email@example.com. I can help you with all of the online options over the phone.
Ticket prices are $18.25 per person including the seat cushion (this is our group price). Regular price for that section is $47.00. A space will be set aside for each dog for their comfort. There is no additional charge for this space. The tickets will be mailed to the person making the reservation. It would be just fine for a club to collect the money and then one person pay with a credit card. In that case, all tickets would be mailed to that person.

You are responsible for your own transportation but there are shuttle/bus options that make it fun:
The Park and Ride and Bowl Shuttle are great options
I have taken both options and it is a great experience (and no downtown LA driving). The bus/shuttle drops you off right in front of the Hollywood Bowl. At the end of the performance you get the bus/shuttle through the tunnel. This part can be a mad dash but there are plenty of buses and lots of help to show you the way.
When purchased online the tickets are $8.75 including the “convenience” fee. Purchase your tickets online in advance to be assured of a seat on the bus you wish to take. There is plenty of parking at the sites where the buses meet you. Trust me, we are not the only ones taking the bus or shuttle. It is a very popular way to get to the Hollywood Bowl.
If you plan to join us for a picnic at the reserved picnic area outside the Hollywood Bowl prior to the show, I suggest you take the first shuttle/bus option. (for example: Lakewood has a 5:40, a 6:00 and a 6:30 time. The performance starts at 8:00 pm so you want to make sure you have enough time to eat, visit, relieve and get to your seats).
Many of the clubs plan a picnic dinner prior to the show. A light dinner, dessert, and drinks work well. As food and drinks are permitted in the Hollywood Bowl (including alcoholic beverages), you can being any leftovers to your seat. We will have a picnic area reserved for us. There is no additional charge for the picnic.
The BAARK Guide Dog Puppies in Training went for our outing to the Pumpkin Patch in Yorba Linda on October 27, 2015. Aiden is the Brindle, Rancher is a black lab sometimes wearing something funny on his head, Brian is the caramel colored lab with a green gentle leader, Rhubarb is our little girl yellow lab with the candy corn scarf and Buckley is our oldest puppy, black lab with the green gentle leader. In attendance were Aiden, Rancher, Brian, Rhubarb and Buckley. Career Change Mobley, Kelton and Natasha tagged along.
